Halstead Road Runners (HRR) hosted the third round of the 53-12 sponsored cross country series over a varied course at Gosfield School.
With open fields at the school and technical single-track in the woods, the race — over five miles for seniors and 1.5 miles for juniors — offered something for everyone.
Thanks go to HRR cross-country consultant Andy Carter and his team for facilitating a fantastic event.
Halstead had three women out and 14 men scoring.
The overall result leaves Halstead third in Pool B at the midway point of the season.
Women: 22 Kathryn Bronson; 29 Wendy Carter; 51 Hazel Buist
Men: 39 Stuart Prestney; 63 Bradley Doe; 65 Don English; 68 Nathan Roulson; 89 Mike Grealy; 92 Glynn Stone; 98 Matthew Ranson; 104 Sam Wolton; 115 Neil Poulter; 119 John Markham; 144 Alistair Godfrey; 157 Kevin Laing; 174 Del Harrington; 190 Mick Purkiss
* Halstead Road Runners this week appointed two new captains, Jim Clark and Kathryn Bronson — both relatively new to the club, they cannot wait to get stuck in.
Clark said: “Anyone with an interest in running, be it for general fun and fitness or more serious racing, should come and give us a look.
“It’s a really friendly club and it won’t be long before you become addicted.”
They replace long-serving captain Wayne Kern and the club hope their enthusiasm will rub off on members old and new alike.
Halstead Road Runners meet on Wednesdays at 7.30pm at Courtaulds Sports Ground.
For information on the club, contact Jim Clark on 07921312361 or Kathryn Bronson on 07867618512.
Halstead Road Runners is a club for 16-year-olds and upwards, for people who want to run for pleasure in friendly company and those who want to train with a specific goal in mind.
