Football: Stace moves back to Royal Oak
Matt Stace was released from his contract at the beginning of this week, and has joined Ridgeons League Harwich and Parkeston, one of his former clubs.
Central defender Stace, pictured, who joined AFC in July, played his last game for the club in the 1-0 League Cup quarter-final victory over Edgware Town last week.
AFC manager Mark Morsley said: "It's a shame. He has done well, and there is no doubting his ability.
"He has struggled with work commitments recently and wanted to leave."
Kevin Hughes may be joining Stace at Harwich, but only on a loan basis as he bids to get fully match fit after cruciate ligament surgery last season.
Hughes has already had a period on loan at The Royal Oak, but aggravated a hamstring injury on his return to King's Marsh.
"We will assess his injury on Thursday," said Morsley. "He needs to play, and we want him to be fully match fit, so another spell at Harwich may do it."
