Bury St Edmunds 267-8 Lavenham 98
With two victories, two defeats, and the inevitable two matches lost to the weather, Lavenham's first season in division three was progressing at par until Sunday when they entertained Bury St Edmunds.
With a preference for chasing runs, Lavenham were not too disappointed to be in the field first. But this changed quite quickly as Rash got into his stride and Lavenham opening bowler Mark Theobald had to come off after four overs with a shoulder injury.
Runs and wickets were coming at equal rates until Rash was joined by Nunn and the wickets dried up. Both these young players demonstrated some Two Counties batting quality and took the game away from Lavenham very quickly.
Rash eventually succumbed to Simon Theobald, but Nunn proceeded in a blaze of hitting to finish 109 not out, being particularly severe on Lavenham's back-up bowlers.
Staring at a 40-over target of 268 to win Lavenham never really began to bat. Wigens got to 30 then attempted to pull one that stayed a little low, and Turner just missed out on a 50 batting late on.
Four top order ducks decided the result of the match as Aldous somehow mesmerised the batsman with interesting left arm round the wicket bowling.
With several of their young players desperate to get into the action it was, perhaps, a little surprising that Bury's skipper neither allowed some of his youngsters an early bowl nor brought them on after the flurry of early Lavenham wickets.
This aside, Bury St Edmunds enjoyed a comprehensive victory and Lavenham put in an under-par performance.
