Sudbury Town darts player Brett Claydon celebrated winning his first Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) title at the weekend, on the Challenge Tour in Coventry.
The player known as ‘The Shredder’ pocketed the £2,000 prize after a thrilling final with Aden Kirk.
With the second event of the afternoon’s final tied at 4-4, Claydon found his form at just the right time as he hit a 12-dart leg and checked out 102.
The top two on the PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour receive two-year tour cards to next season’s PDC ProTour.
Claydon’s win has moved him into ninth place in the order of merit, with two rounds to play, the next seeing the players return to Coventry on September 28.
