Halstead and District Motorcycle Club are gearing up to host the penultimate round of the Maxxi British Sidecarcross Championships at Wakes Colne on September 7 – and the Free Press has a VIP family ticket for up to four people to give away.
Since 1958 Halstead have been organising sidecarcross motocross meetings at Little Loveney Hall.
The highlight of all those early days came in 1977 when the club organised The 1,000cc Sidecarcross Grand Prix of Great Britain on July 17.
The most exciting news of the meeting was that two Russian crews were coming from Moscow and that it was taking them 12 days to travel to Wakes Colne from Russia to the competition.
To stand a chance of winning the competition for tickets for a family of up to four people, which will include access via the riders and competitors entrance offering a behind-the-scenes look at the meeting, simply answer the following question:
Q. How many days did it take the Russian crews to get from Moscow to Wakes Colne in 1977?
