Blustery conditions did not deter 18 Halstead Road Runners turning out for the annual Great Bentley Half Marathon

Halstead’s Neil Wilson was first home for the club in a time of 1:27:25, shortly followed by a group of six who all scored personal bests, including Richard Candler who took a huge 20 minutes off of his previous best time.

Nicole Smith also recorded an excellent PB, beating her previous best time by over three minutes.

Halstead’s successful weekend started at the Great Notley Park Run. Debra Stong made her debut as a Halstead Road Runner and was second in her age group in an excellent time of 29:58.

Mel Candler finished in 24:01 and was second lady overall. Sheila Purkiss won her age group in 36:11.

Reigning world duathlon champion Maurice Young, back in action after a three-month injury lay-off, recorded 39:34.
