KRISTIAN Whatley, Elliot Banks Brown and Carl Nunn were, as expected, the stars of the evening when Halstead and District Motorcycle Club held their second meeting of the motocross season.

Almost 100 riders tackled the Little Loveney Hall course in Wakes Colne for the first round of the GH Motorcycles sponsored Wednesday Evening Series.

Four heats were held to determine which riders would make it through to the semi-finals and consolation final.

The first semi-final saw a win for Whatley, from Banks Brown, with Sydney Bales third.

There was a win for Nunn in the other semi-final with local rider Jason Morland second and Junior Thomas third.

In the consolation final, first place was clinched by Sam Arbon.

From the start of the grand final, Bales was ahead of Whatley with Banks Brown third and Nunn fourth.

At the halfway point, Whatley seized his chance to take the lead and held on to take the win ahead of Bales, with Banks Brown third.

At one time in the race, Nunn was within striking distance of the leaders, but he fell to finish in sixth place.

Halstead’s next meeting at Wakes Colne will be the Richard Fitch Trophy Motorcross on Sunday, July 3. Riders at national level are expected to enter, together with a whole host of local riders.
