Halstead and District Motorcycle Club held a successful practice day at their Wakes Colne motocross circuit. Many of the riders were Halstead members, tuning their bikes ready for the new season. During the day, club riders received cups or trophies for their success in 2014.
Jason Morland won the Best Expert and Best Enduro trophies. Other winners were Harry Mills (Best Junior); Lee White (NGR Cup); Brendon Mayers and Mark Relland - joint winners of the President’s Cup; Juliette Salmon (Chairman’s Cup); Mark Mitchell and Ray Game - joint winners Membership Secretary’s Cup.
For the first time for many years, Trials riders received awards. Best Expert was Matt Skeet, with teenager Sam Peck Best Novice.
At the opening round of the 2015 Maxxis British MX Championship, held at Hilton Park near Wolverhampton, Lewis Tombs made his debut in MXI - now sponsored by Lings Husqvarna.
Tombs was 12th in race one, followed by ninth in race two, to finish in 10th place overall and 10th in the series standings after the first of eight rounds.
The British Veteran MX Championship was held at the same venue. Here Tombs took 11th in the first race and ninth in the second to finish ninth overall and ninth in the series standings after one of three rounds.
Tombs and Jason Morland will be in action on Sunday when Woodbridge and DMCC host their opening motocross meeting at the Blaxhall circuit.
