The annual trophy presentation took place at the Christmas lunch staged by Newton Green Golf Club seniors following the playing of a Texas scramble team game.
The winning Texas scramble team - John Sherman, Terry Scutt and Peter Cade - received their prize from seniors vice-captain Mike Barnes.
Senior section captain Mike Norton surprised his colleagues with ditties about some of the frailties of his fellow players when he produced his guitar to bring down the curtain on the lunch.
In his youth he had been part of an amateur skiffle act, but put that phase away during a career in the police force.
After retiring, he started strumming again with friends in pubs in Essex and Suffolk.
He explained: “Seven years ago illness forced me to stop my hobby. However, I decided to get my guitar out of storage to give it a go to mark the nearing of the end of my year in office. Afterwards, two more golfers who had played guitar and drums came up to me and said they could be interested in dusting down their instruments for a more ambitious performance next year.”
