Five Sudbury masters and one senior swimmer travelled to Barnet Copthall to compete in the 1,500m distance swim.

Shaun Baldock and Sarah Clarke were both competing for the first time in this event and distance, but swam exceptionally well in times of 28 minutes 14.75 seconds (Baldock) and 24.51.05 (Clark) respectively.

Sharon McLellan was the next person in the water, swimming nine seconds quicker than in Sheffield in a time of 24.11.30.

Terry Mansi, swimming his only second time at this distance, swam 24.20.00, claiming a personal best time by taking 14 seconds off.

Stuart McLellan, in one of his favourite events, took four seconds off from Sheffield and was rewarded with a new East Region record of 23.16.39.

Last, but not least, was youngest swimmer Chris Greenhalgh, who not feeling a 100 per cent, swam an incredible and positive race to swim 16.54.61.

All the swimmers finished in their groups: Baldock (sixth), Sarah McLellan (sixth), Sharon McLellan (second), Terry Mansi (third), Stuart McLellan (first) and Chris Greenhalgh (first).
