An above average crowd attended Halstead and District Motor Cycle Club’s motocross meeting on Sunday, held at Little Loveney Hall, Wakes Colne. Many of the club’s riders had good race results.

In the Allcomers Premier Class, Brad Tomlin had three good results to give him the overall win on the day while Jason Morland and Brendon Mayers both had good results for top 10 overall.

Three Halstead riders showed up well in the overall places, these being Tom Cress, Ashley Campbell and Patrick Hylton riding in Support Group A. In Support Group B, Alex Claydon rode well while new club rider, Georgia Patterson took top 10 places.

The next motocross meeting at Wakes Colne, will be held on Sunday, June 5, for the Richard Fitch Trophy. The club is hoping to celebrate its 90th year before September.

n Sudbury Motorcycle Club will be hosting the seventh annual Dave Roper Memorial Event at the new venue of Foxborough Quarry, Sible Hedingham on Sunday, laid out like Cornard, with a 10am start.

o emulate the Cornard track on a special field which contains several cambers but no ruts or bumps which will make it easier for the older machines in the Evo, Twin Shock and Pre 65 Classes. The three other Classes are Championship, Expert and Clubman.

This is a fun and relaxed day in memory of Dave Roper who was a great stalwart of the Sudbury Motorcycle Club and its chairman for 20 years and at last year’s meeting the homemade cake stall raised £300 which and the other proceeds from the day goes to his Memorial Fund which supports up and coming Sudbury riders in the East Anglian Enduro Championship providing them with training, team riding shirt and help with entry fees. Starting time for the meeting is 10am.
