Halstead and District Motorcycle Club Expert motocross rider, Lewis Tombs, took fifth place overall with 33 points in round seven of the National Series, at Preston Docks.

Tombs finished sixth in race one with 15 points, followed by a tremendous fourth with 18 points in the second.

In the series standings after seven (of eight) rounds, Tombs is fourth, just nine points adrift of French rider Seven Lenior.

The last round of the series will be held at Foxhills MP next month.

The 2014 Eastern Centre motocross season is drawing to a close, with just two more meetings.

On Sunday, Diss MC hold their final round of the championships, at Wattisfield Hall, while the final meeting goes to Chelmsford DAC at Claydons Farm, East Hanningfield, its 75th anniversary meeting, on Sunday, September 28.
