Halstead’s Road Runners’ triathletes took on the Newmarket Sprint Triathlon.

John Markham, Paul Frindle and Wendy Carter battled over the multi-sport discipline of a 300m Swim, 22km bike and 4km run.

John Markham was able to pip clubmate Paul Frindle to the line, finishing in one hour 11 minutes and 23 seconds by two minutes with the pair taking age group honours finishing first and second in the male55-59 age category.

Wendy Carter finished in a time of 1hr 20mins and 9secs for 97th overall and 21st femlae and second in her 50-54 age category.

Andy Wilmot (4hrs 15mins) and Dan Smith (4hrs 37mins) completed the Flitch Way Marathon.

in two weeks as they battled the warm sunny conditions in Sunday’s Flitch Way Marathon.

Starting at Great Notleys Discovery Centre this race follows the Flitch Way to Takely before heading back to the finish and the large hill at the Discovery Centre.

Andy Wilmot as consistent as ever managed a 4 hrs 15 mins, while Dan Smith was a few minutes outside his PB finishing in 4 hrs 37 mins.

Sunday’s warm conditions also saw five Halstead Road Runners head to Chelmsford for the popular Baddow 10. This race attracted well over 600 competitors with Juan De Gea putting in a fine run to finish 50th overall, followed by Stewart Ellis. Hazel Buist was the first female home for the club and managed a new best time over 10 miles.
