Sudbury Storms gain their biggest tally of campaign

Sudbury Storms ended the National Arena League in style, finishing with a total of 120 points, their highest tally of the season.

Tom Williams dominated the open 100m breaststroke, storming to a convincing win in a time of one minute 9.08 seconds to seal the win of the evening.

Chris Greenhalgh swam strongly in the open 200m individual medley (IM) to finish second before sealing a fourth place finish in the open 100m backstroke event with another personal best.

Nick Robertson swam solidly in the open 100m freestyle to finish in third place and was fifth in the open 100m butterfly, while the two third places came from Ella Rides in the open 100m breaststroke and Olivia Sherred in the under-15 100m backstroke.

The men’s open medley team (Chris Greenhalgh, Tom Williams, Nick Robertson, Connor Hume) and women’s open medley team (Olivia Sherred, Ella Rides, Redgi Keeble-Bradford, Gemma Rides) both battled strongly to finish in fourth place.

Keeble-Bradford swam to fifth place in the open 100m freestyle as did Olivia Sherred in open 100m backstroke.

Finishing in fifth place, the men’s open freestyle relay side (Nick Robertson, Chris Greenhalgh, Tom Williams, Connor Humes, Alex Curran, Harry Moye) had a thrilling race with only a finger width separating four teams at the final touch.

There were also personal best times gained by James Rowley, Abigail Harris (under-15 100m butterfly), Caitlin Evans (under-15 100m breastroke), Charlie Harman, Harry Moye and William Murray.

Nathan Alexander gave a promising performance in the 100m breaststroke event.

George Butler continued his improving form. He swam a futher two best times in round three, in the under-11 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.
