Sudbury Bowls Club members were in tremendous form in the Federation County competition semi-finals, securing seven final places.
First to book his County finals place was Graham Smith, who won in singles of the Secretaries Cup, swiftly followed by Lee Rowland in the men’s singles.
Smith then won in the mixed pairs with Eileen Parker, who was on form over the two days and also had wins in the ladies’ pairs with Jane Watson and the two-bowl triples with Watson and Rachel Bonsor.
The triples had all the Sunday spectators on the edge of their seats as they won 18-17 in the last end.
In the men’s three-bowls triples, Dave Parker, Brian Smith and Rod Sharpe had a tough battle but came through to win 15-12 to book their place. They will join club mates Terry Swift, Barry Wells and Aaron Phillips who had a tremendous game winning 28-8.
In the EBA rules Sudbury’s Jacqui Edgar has won through to the finals of the National Seniors Singles at Leamington on August 7/8 by beating Moira Self from Felixstowe 21-13 in the semi-final.
