Graham Richards will be urging his players to dig deep and regain the fervour they showed at the start of the season in time for their clash with Canvey Island at Whittome Field on Saturday (3pm).
The visitors are bottom of London League Three North East, but Sudbury need to swiftly pick themselves up after three successive defeats, the latter coming at Wisbech at the weekend.
“I’ve got to look at restructuring to get us back to where we were six weeks ago,” said Richards. “We have lost our tenacity.
“We are not as robust as we were.
“We are back to the ineptitude we showed in the way we played last season and it’s quite frustrating.
“We struggled in the lineout for the first time this season. “We lost quite a lot of lineout balls, so we didn’t have as platform to work off, and when we did get the ball we kept giving it back to Wisbech.
“If you give them that much possession, they are bound to score.”
Sudbury had only 17 players at Wisbech, but Richards anticipates a different selection headache for Saturday’s game when a number of players currently at university are likely to be available.
