Sudbury overcome Wheelers in close contest

Cycling Club Sudbury’s inter club time trial with West Suffolk Wheelers proved a tight affair with little separating the two clubs.

Sudbury were led home by Jody Downs who won the event in a new personal best time of 22 minutes and 48 seconds, followed by Matt Shotbolt (23:16) with third going to Wheelers’ Matt Shingleton (23:17).

Sudbury’s Dave Crisp (23:24) finished narrowly ahead of Wheelers’ Paul Rooke (23:36), John Bradbury (24:03) and Darren Sharman (24:18) with the final point scorer for Sudbury being Lee Ford (24:20).

The total score for Sudbury was 234 points while Wheelers scored 217 with both teams having 15 riders in the event.

Elsewhere, Damon Day competed in an open time trial on the E2/10 course near Six Mile Bottom recording his fastest 10 YTD in 22:02.
