Three of Sudbury’s Masters swimming squad returned with medals after competing down at the Barnet Copthall Distance meet.
Stuart McLellan swam the freestyle in 800, 400, 200 and 100 metres and the individual medley freestyle in 200 and 400 and 100m breaststroke, winning four golds and three silvers.
Terry Mansi competed in his first distance meet, swimming all four freestyle events in 800, 400, 200 and 100m, winning two silvers and two bronze medals with a season’s best time in 800 and 400m.
Sharon McLellan swam 800, 400, 200 and 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke, winning two silvers and one bronze, also with a season’s best times in 800, 400 and 100m freestyle.
Aaron Noble competed in the Iron Man at Nottingham, also last month, having trained very hard for the gruelling event over the past couple of years.
He swam the 2.4 miles in one hour 11 minutes and seven seconds, cycled 112 miles in 6.42.13 and then ran 26.2 miles in 5.12.03, finishing with a time of 13.26.22.
Noble did exceptionally well in a difficult competition and has already indicated he wants to do more.
Gordon Coutts has also been busy with swimming over in the Isle of Wight — swimming in the pier to pier.
Coutts swam a time of 39 minutes three seconds and finished in second place in his age group.
