Sudbury Hockey Club’s 100 per cent bid

SUDBURY Hockey Club men’s first team travel to Gorleston for their final league game of the season on Saturday looking to become ‘The Invincibles’.

A remarkable feat could be achieved on the Norfolk coast this weekend if Sudbury can maintain their winning streak.

Victory at the second-placed side in Division 3NE would seal a 100 per cent season for Sudbury, with 22 wins out of 22 being the ultimate icing on their championship cake.

Following last week’s 5-0 win over Dereham, Sudbury lead Gorleston by 14 points, having played a game more.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s opponents, the only ones who can stop Sudbury entering the history books, lost 3-0 away at Ipswich - their third loss of the campaign.

Sudbury were relegated to Division 3NE, the side where their second string currently play, last season, but they have bounced back up to Division 2N, the third tier of the East Hockey League, at a canter.

On Saturday, they now have the chance to make it the most unforgettable campaign on record.
