Head instructor James
Blezard was delighted with Blue Dragon Freestyle
Kickboxing Club’s displays in a Suffolk Combat Series event.

The club celebrated three out of five victories on the day at Risby, near Bury St Edmunds, in the International Combat Organisation-sanctioned event.

Jack Fletcher got the ball rolling with the 85kg fighter beating TKO’s Jack Poole.

The Blue Dragon fighter put in a good performance with superior movement and high head kicks.

Liam Vant’s debut fight was one to remember as he grew into the contest by round two, dropping his opponent Will Apps from Kent club TFMA with a crisp jab to the head.

By the end of round three he had come into his own to take the win.

ICO and IKF champion Bailey Petrie provided formidable opposition for eight-year-old Scott Stannard against, with Bailey eventually coming out on top in a contest full of action.

Mark Lawson, who at 36 years old took on a fighter 18 years his junior, had enough tricks in his repertoire to
out-fox the younger fighter.

Bailey threw spinning hook kicks, catching his opponent several times throughout the fight and fought with the speed and tenacity of a much younger fighter to deservedly claim the victory.

Grace Till, 10, took on CKA’s Shannon Lockwood in her second outing and improved greatly from her first.

But she did not have enough to outscore her more experienced opponent.

Blezard was very happy with the way all his fighters performed and is looking forward to the next event.
