Storm brew up success after a daunting test

Sudbury Storms had an impressive visit to Bishops Stortford’s Long Course Meet at Basildon.

Raced on a 50m pool it is a daunting experience for those used to 25m pools and although less time is lost on turns it takes getting used to and any personal best is a real achievement.

Securing regional qualifying times were Nick Robertson (50m butterfly 29.11 seconds), John Jiang (50m freestyle 26.64), Laurence Chalk (100m freestyle 1 min 73 secs) and Lana Mo (200m freestyle 2.20.54).

Personal best times were also set in the 50m freestyle by Georgie Hodgeson 35.40, Mollie Milsom 30.86, and Laurence Chalk 27.67.

Chalk’s other personal bests were in 50m butterfly (29.31) and 100m butterfly (1.07.63). Orion Nichol clocked best times in 100m freestyle (1.14.05) and 50m butterfly (36.32), with Jiang swimming 50m butterfly in 29.87.

n This weekend sees some of the Storms begin their challenges at the county championships.

The club is also hosting the Valentine’s masters meet.
