Sudbury Town darts team became the latest victim in Walsham’s unstoppable march to the Suffolk Super League title as the 2012 champions ran out 7-1 winners at the Institute.

Sudbury went into the game on the back of brilliant wins over Clapgate Lane and Saxmundham, but knew a good start was important against the powerful visitors.

In Brett Claydon, Sudbury had their number one player opening proceedings and he gave a superb display with a season’s best average of 31.07 – only to be beaten 3-2 by the experienced Ron Mold.

John Attwater (19.86 ave) never really got going against Jason Mold and lost 3-1, but Jason Stalker (24.55 ave) got Sudbury on the board with a 3-2 win over Wayne Squirrell, winning the man-of-the-match award in the process.

Martin Totman (24.72 ave) hit two 180s, but went down 3-1 to Tom Howling, and Walsham went 4-1 up as Steve Balls (25.35 ave) gave a good performance, but lost a last-leg decider to Simon Leggett.

Mark Theobald (21.45 ave) was the next to fall, 3-1 to Nick Bloom, as Walsham sealed victory, before Dan Tatum (20.69 ave) went down 3-1 to Jason Elvin.

The final game saw Ian Randles (20.21 ave) lose 3-0 to Andrew Gilding as Walsham powered to a 7-1 victory.
