Sudbury Rowing Club had three juniors selected to represent the eastern region in the National Junior Inter Regional Regatta.
In Nottingham, Nick Scott raced in the J14 single category and, after coming second in his heat, raced well in the final to secure a silver medal right on the finish line, in what was an excellent achievement for him.
Molly Shaw and Ellie Adams made up a composite women’s J16 eight, which comprised six different clubs.
With tough competition from Henley and some of the established school crews, the girls had a great heat, finishing second.
Going into the final, Shaw wound the crew up and pushed them hard over the 1500m course.
Henley took an early lead and went on to win gold, but the girls were in the mix right up to the line, narrowly missing out on a medal by just two seconds.
Overall, Team East came second out of 11.
