THE home nations did battle as Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club staged an inter-club international match.

Forty golfers representing the four countries played a stableford competition at the club, with Scotland coming out on top with 31.5 points.

Despite the rain for some of the day, each game was played with a competitive but friendly spirit.

The best score of the day was 38 points by Sam Buxton, the Welsh captain. The day was rounded off with a hearty meal of sausages and mash in the captain’s lounge at the club.
