Rout of bottom team puts Lavenham top

Lavenham Royal British Legion A have moved to the top of the table at the halfway point of the Sudbury and District Snooker League.

They scored their second consecutive 5-0 win, this time against the league’s bottom team, Sible Hedingham, who were comprehensively outplayed by the in-form home side.

Defending champions Earls Colne B are just one point behind in second despite dropping two frames in their 3-2 win over Long Melford Working Men’s Club C.

Lavenham RBL B are in third position following a 4-1 victory at Sudbury Snooker Club B. This match saw a fantastic 57 clearance by the Legion’s Jon Wright, the top break of the season to date.

Sudbury Snooker Club A again failed to register their first victory of the season, going down by three frames to two at LMWMC A, the seventh time in nine matches that they have lost by the odd frame.

There was a first win of the season for S Club 47 captain Eddie Keogh who took the scalp of Earls Colne A’s Luke Heard. Despite this, Colne still went on to win the match 3-2.
