Sudbury Under-9s were away at Colchester on Sunday and emerged with three wins, a draw and two defeats – both against the very strong Colchester A rugby team.

Some excellent attacking play and some good tackling from most and outstanding by some, gave the coaches real satisfaction that lessons are being learnt.

Sudbury Blues lost 9-2 to Colchester A, beat Colchester Blackbirds 6-2, and defeated Colchester Rooks 9-3.

Sudbury Reds drew 5-5 with Colchester B, beat Colchester Blackbirds 7-2 and lost 10-1 to Colchester A.

Sudbury scorers: Ezra Roper 8, Tom Ryan 7, George Derbyshire 5, Harvey Keeble 2, Gilbert Keitley-Webb 2, Ed Hughes 1, Kyran Trevain 1, James Searle 1, Elliott Blair-Slater 1.
