No break for Suds with drop looming

Have your say

Despite a second weekend without a fixture, Sudbury rugby coach Graham Richards has revealed he is having his players in for three fitness sessions in the next seven days to boost their chances of survival.

While others in their league are chomping their way through chocolate on Easter Monday, or relaxing with their families, Richards is encouraging as many players as possible to attend an extra session at Whittome Field.

“You can always improve your fitness and we are just trying to create a bit of an edge,” said Richards ahead of the start of a three-game run-in from April 6 which will determine if Sudbury remain in London Three North East next season, or face the ignominy of dropping into the Eastern Counties League.

Suds are still three points and two places from safety after the snow caused havoc to the sporting calendar on Saturday, with only games involving relegation rivals Wisbech (12-3 defeat at Norwich) and East London (84-5 defeat at Upminster) surviving the blizzard.
