Ben Barker admits he is ‘excited’ to become the new head of driver development at Position One Motorsport.

The Porsche Supercup and Pro endurance racer has been working with the team as a driver coach and simulator development driver for the past year, having first become involved with the company whilst driving for Position One partner team Gulf Racing in the 2014 European Le Mans Series.

“I am excited to join Position One as head of driver development,” said Barker (pictured in action), a former West Suffolk College pupil.

“I have been involved in the development of the simulator, and I am happy with the results of what we can now offer.

“I truly believe in the concept of simulator driver development, and I look forward to helping others the same way it has helped me.”

Barker will step up to lead the driver development activities for Position One alongside his coaching duties and professional driving activities.

Position One’s managing and technical director Matt Beers welcomed the appointment.

He said: “Ben brings a wealth of experience despite his youth, having raced at the sharp end in the highly competitive Porsche Supercup in recent years and in Carrera Cup Germany in 2015, as well as in the major European and US endurance events.

“His ability as a professional driver is clear to see and it’s a great addition to the team to have him working on our customer’s driver development programmes, helping us to build the holistic packages and fully understand what they need to achieve their ambitions in this demanding industry.”

Position One is a company which delivers a range of services to drivers - whether they are amateurs or professional.

Their facilities include Driver In the Loop simulator services, professional driver coaching both on the track or with the simulator, conditioning, training programme development and personal training and personal management.
