Former world amateur number one Jamie Moul will have to play on the third tier of European golf next season after the Stoke-by-Nayland professional lost his full PGA European Challenge Tour card this week.

It comes just two years after the 29-year-old had risen to the top tier, the PGA European Tour, after finishing in the top 10 of the Challenge Tour rankings.

He teed off in February hoping to return to the European Tour, but ended up 117th in the final Challenge Tour standings.

Moul had to get through three qualifying school stages to regain his status, but finished in tied 37th position in Campo de Golf El Saler, Spain on Tuesday, in stage two, outside the top-17 qualifiers.
