Morland prepares to defend Enduro title

Battle is set to commence on Sunday between Jason Morland (Halstead) and Jamie Roper (Sudbury) in the first round of the GH Motorcycles/Husqvarna/ACU Eastern Solo Enduro Championship, in Thetford Forest, organised by Diss Motorcycle Club.

Morland will have the coveted number one plate this year as he won the Championship Class title last year.

Brendan Mayers will be backing up his fellow club member while Chris Hockey (Sudbury) is hungry for his 10th title.

Other local riders are the Sudbury trio of Steve Mason, Craig and Rick Roper.

Alex Rampton, winner of the Expert and Clubman titles over the last two years, has a broken a collarbone. Harry Clark (Sudbury) will be riding in his first Solo Championship.

In the Expert Class, Ryan McDonnell (Sudbury) has opposition from Nick Barrett and Jack Nicolaou (both Sud) plus Ben Grice (Lowestoft.

Tom Sargent (Bury) looks favourite for the Clubman Class with strong competition from Daniel Piper, Lee Monger and Ben Roper (all Sud). Joe Marsh (Halstead) and George Warren (Castle Colchester) intend to be among the leaders.

On Sunday, March 5, Sudbury hold their annual Endurothon at Foxborough Quarry.
