Newton Green Golf Club were the recent hosts of the Suffolk Ladies Centenary Foursomes with home players Jennie Leech and Patricia Havers winning the trophy with 52 points over the 27-hole competition.
The club’s ladies’ section also held their annual open when 14 teams of four from Suffolk and Essex took part in a Cha Cha competition.
The winners, with 100 points (on countback), were the Playgolf team of Rose Cole, Sue Patrick, Gina MacMillan and Nicky Withycombe.
n Newton Green’s Ian Woodhead was runner-up in the unsung hero category at the annual Suffolk Sports Awards.
The 50-year-old single handicap golfer recently lifted the Suffolk Hambro Cup as non-playing captain as Newton won the trophy for the first time in 42 years.
The team contained a number of youngsters he has brought through the club.
