Hockey will be the winner as club and school link up

Sudbury Hockey Club are to benefit from a conveyor belt of new talent after agreeing a partnership with Thomas Gainsborough School.

Both parties will work in unison to promote and develop both indoor and outdoor Hockey, with Sudbury set to keep using the Great Cornard school’s artificial pitch for all their home matches.

The agreement will also see Thomas Gainsborough School affiliate to England Hockey and adopt hockey as their main sport by developing a new coaching programme supported by a team of qualified coaches.

Sudbury Hockey Club, whose headquarters is at Sudbury Cricket Club’s Goal Lane site, now have a long-term agreement with the school to use their facilties.

The partnership will also see the hockey club use players who have come through the school system to augment player numbers, as well as combining expertise to 
support the local school 
games organiser in taking hockey into the local Primary Schools.
