Danny Hewitt took on the Colchester Castle Park 5k Park Run in pursuit of a new personal best (pb) time.

Despite a very good run to finish 40th, he was a mere five seconds outside his goal and finished in 21 minutes 35 seconds.

Dan Hollinshead took on a rather muddy Great Notley 5k Park Run, and recorded an almost identical time to Danny Hewitt, finishing in 21.25

A break in local races this weekend allowed many Halstead Road Runners to concentrate on training runs, with many heading out on Sunday morning for a 10-mile trail run organised by club stalwart Bob Langley.

Run across muddy byways and fields, the group were able to put the training in for this weekend’s prestigious National Cross Country Championship at Parliament Hills, London.

Halstead athletes will be competing alongside many international-standard athletes in Sunday’s race.

Halstead Road Runners meet on Wednesday evenings at 7.15pm at Courtaluds Sports Ground, Colchester Road.

Anyone interested in joining should contact club captains Jim Clark 07921 312361 or Jenn Langley 07769 997189.
