FOUR Halstead Road Runner Juniors competed in the Gosfield Duathlon on Saturday, within the grounds of Gosfield School.
This was an extremely well organised run, bike, run competition.
In the Tristar Two race, 11-year-olds Henry Trevanion and Emma Lovegrove battled the 1,600-metre run well, with Emma leading and Henry not far behind. Emma kept the lead all the way to claim the prize for first girl. Henry, who struggled with his gears on the bike discipline, rode well and made up ground with an amazing final run to finish first boy.
Next was the Tristar One category with eight-year-old Declan Cameron and nine-year-old Vicky Lovegrove.
The 1,200-metre run saw Vicky leading most of the way with Declan in third position. Declan overtook on the bike leg and won the race. Vicky maintained her second position through a great final run and was first girl. This was a really special achievement as it was the first attempt at duathlon for all four junior athletes.
