The Sudbury and District Snooker League Handicap Cup semi-final line up is now complete after the final round of group matches.

With two places still up for grabs Lavenham Legion B and The Hedingham booked their places in the last four, albeit with contrasting results.

Lavenham went into their match with Earls Colne A needing just two frames to qualify, and they quickly achieved that as Glen Avey, helped by a break of 38, and Dale Gridley were both in top potting form.

Mike Hazell and Dave Mortier, with two black ball wins, wrapped up a comfortable night for the Legion, who now go on to face the same opponents in tonight’s semi-finals.

The Hedingham’s passage was far less convincing, as they went into their match against Sudbury SC B needing just one frame to qualify - which was just as well as that was all they were to get.

Sudbury B came within one frame of overhauling the Hedingham side and claiming fourth spot themselves.

A win for Stephen Chinnery over Steve Underwood saw the visitors over the line and a clash with their club rivals Sible Hedingham.

In tonight’s semi-finals Earls Colne A take on Lavenham Legion B at Long Melford Working Men’s Club, and Sible Hedingham meet The Hedingham at Sible Hedingham Billiards and Snooker Club. Both start at 8pm.
