Hadleigh’s Curtis Hammond endured a disappointing weekend on the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) circuit in Barnsley last week.
In Saturday’s Players Championship event, Hammond lost 6-4 to Austria’s Rowby-John Rodriguez in the first round.
Then on Sunday the PDC tour card holder suffered another last 128 exit, this time at the hands of Dutch youngster Jeffrey de Zwaan (6-3).
Last Friday, Hammond was bidding to qualify for the final two European Tour events of the season.
In the UK qualifier for next month’s HappyBet European Darts Grand Prix, he beat Jack Todd 6-1, before losing 6-4 to Simon Stevenson in the penultimate round of qualifying.
Later on that day, Hammond completed a pleasing 6-5 victory over former world champion Steve Beaton in the next qualifier, for October’s HappyBet German Darts Championship.
But he then lost 6-3 to Mickey Mansell in the final round of qualifying.
Hammond returns to action on the PDC Pro Tour next month when a Players Championship triple header takes place in Barnsley.
