CHAMPIONS: Action from Hadleigh's Suffolk Plate final win over Ipswich

Hadleigh Under-15s are Suffolk Plate champions after defeating Ipswich 24-0 in the final at Layham Road on Sunday.

This was a closer contest than the scoreline suggests, and although Hadleigh struck as early as the second minute with a try from scrum-half Arthur Romer-Lee, it took them a long time to overcome the visitors’ challenge.

Strong defensive play kept Ipswich at bay, particularly the eye-catching tackles from number eight Josh Bull and winger Max Richmond.

Hadleigh took a 10-0 lead into the break after full-back Sam Hindley went on a
tremendous arcing run to score.

The second half was similarly tight but Hadleigh managed to add another 14 points with tries coming from Benjamin Foley — who was outstanding in defence —and Jacob Rouse, both converted by Bull.

Chairman of Eastern Counties community rugby John Winders was on hand to award the trophy to the delighted Hadleigh squad who can now look forward to competing in the Suffolk Cup in the New Year.
