Georgia Millar shone on her NSEA Inter-schools Dressage debut, beating competitors more than four years older than her to claim sixth place out of 48.
The 10-year-old, a pupil at St Margaret’s Preparatory School in Gosfield, was the highest-placed Essex rider in her prelim 12 class at the event in Keysoe, Bedford.
Georgia and her pony De Vossebelt’s Nibbit (Finn) impressed the judges in what was her first outing at this level.
She said: “When we got the phone call to say I had been placed sixth it was really exciting.
“Most of the other competitors were much older, many were on horses and it was the first time I have competed in an Inter-Schools dressage competition.
“I was very nervous beforehand but really pleased with where we came.”
St Margaret’s principal Elaine Powling said: “Georgia is a founder member of St Margaret’s equestrian team which competes in NSEA events.
“She is competing to a high level and we are all very proud of her achievements.”
