JAMIE Moul suffered further disappointment on his debut season on the European Tour as he missed the cut for the third consecutive tournament, this time in Portugal.
Rounds of 76 and 75 in the Madeira Islands Open in Santo de Serra last Thursday and Friday left the Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club playing professional seven over par when the cut came down for the weekend.
Portugal’s Ricardo Santos won his home tournmanet, finishing 22 under par, after rounds of 68, 67, 68 and 63.
Moul, 27, is now 164th in the Race to Dubai player rankings with earnings of €28,038 so far this season. But it means he will need to climb 50 places to avoid a play-off to keep his European Tour card for next season.
As reported in last week’s Free Press, Moul is ninth on a reserve list for the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, Surrey, which starts a week today (May 24). He has also put an entry forward to compete at the ISPS Handa Wales Open at The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport on May 31.
