Halstead Road Runners’ Don English and Del Harrington took to the multi-sport calendar over the weekend, competing in the ultra tough Ironman Triathlon in Nottingham.
They competed over a distance of 2.3-mile open water swim, followed by a 112-mile bike leg and topped with a marathon run in sweltering heat.
Club stalwart English completed this mammoth challenge in 12 hours 29 minutes, finishing an incredible seventh place in his age category.
Harrington completed the swim and 75 miles of the bike course before being pulled out of the race on medical advice by officials.
Elsewhere, Sam Wolton, Wendy Carter and Lorraine Garnham continued the multi-sport theme by taking on the Culford Triathlon in Suffolk.
Over shorter distances of a 300m swim, 21k bike and 4k run, Sam Wolton finished in one hour and six minutes, Wendy Carter in 1.11 and Lorraine Garnham 1.13.
