Paul Emson, secretary of the Colnes Angling Society, caught a double-figure pike from one of the club’s river stretches at Bures, reports Roger Fleming.
Pike to double figures are being caught from most of the society’s River Stour venues with float fished deadbaits such as smelt and roach being the most successful.
Plenty of roach, perch and some dace are showing on pole and rod to maggots, casters and worm and if you persevere trotting hemp and tares quality roach are being tempted.
The club is offering half-price membership to the end of the river season with permits being available from most local tackle shops.
Their lakes can also be fished on the half-price permits.
