EAST MEN’S LEAGUE DIVISION TWO NORTH: Sudbury 4 Saffron Walden II 5
A Will Chrystal hat-trick was not enough for a depleted Sudbury side, who were 3-0 down inside 10 minutes, to claim victory.
With 11 players of the first and second teams injured or unavailable, it took 10 minutes for the scratch side to adjust, by which time a well-drilled Saffron Walden team had taken full advantage.
Sudbury recovered and were rewarded by a well-worked goal finished by Brendon Meyers.
The hosts started the second half with a positive attitude and scored following a fine solo effort from Chrystal.
Injured reduced Sudbury to 10 men and despite some illness among its members all of them struggled on, Chrystal completing his hat-trick in a fine team performance.
n In Division Three North a young Sudbury II side recorded an impressive 3-0 win at Harleston Magpies IV.
Adam Tozer, drag flicking into the top left corner, gave them a 1-0 advantage at the break before Dan Birch, from James Murray’s pass, put them 2-0 up.
Excellent play centrally from Chris Bull, Tozer and Murray, set up Birch to add the third.
n An injury-hit Sudbury IV lacked experience in several positions and went down 4-0 at home to Norwich Dragons V in Division Six North East.
The visitors could have had several more goals, but for heroic work in goal from keeper Stuart Clark.
