With the Open Time Trial season coming to a close, Cycle Club Sudbury riders ended on a high with some notable performances.

The first came at the 3-Up Team Time Trial event where Simon Daw, Darren Rule and James Rush secured a season’s best second place.

In the same event, Nick Baker, Rob Davies and Darren Pratt also secured fifth place, while David Crisp, Jody Downs and Jamie Howe were seventh.

Elsewhere, in the VTTA event at Newmarket, Jonathan Weatherley rode his first 30-mile TT and impressed to beat the club record, which was only set last year.

It was his second success in a month, having ridden a personal best for eighth place in the VTTA National Championships which also saw Damon Day, Jody Downs and Bob Bush ride strongly.

Rule, Daw and Rush also rode the Stowmarket 10 at Rougham in early September, coming home in 11th, 12th and 13th respectively.

The pick of Daw’s recentimpressive results was a personal best in the Breckland CC 50 mile — the quickest of the year by a Sudbury rider.

Daw has now ridden the fastest times by a CCS rider for the 25, 50 and 100-mile distances this season.
