EARLS Colne B dropped their first frame in four matches last week, but still ended up stretching their lead at the top of the Sudbury and District Snooker League to seven points after a 4–1 win at home against Long Melford Working Men’s Club C.
There were two more wins in the match for Colin Ballard who is now up to 20 wins for the season. Ray Fradley gained the Working Men’s only frame with a black ball win against Andy Shelton.
Earls Colne A remain in second place following a 3-2 win at Lavenham Royal British Legion A. Peter Sturgeon had put the home side 1-0 up only for Mark Harris and Neil Evans to give Colne a 2–1 advantage.
John Goodchild levelled things up by knocking in a 44 break in his winover Justin Rogers before Rogers himself returned to seal the match for Colne by beating the Legion’s Richard Howe.
Lavenham RBL B remain hot on the heels of Colne A after their 4–1 win at Sudbury Snooker Club B.
Bob Adams got the Snooker Club off to a good start by winning only his second frame of the season against Legion captain Dale Gridley but it was downhill all the way after that as the Legion ran out easy winners.
Basement club Long Melford RBL B gained only their third win of the season as they beat Sudbury Snooker Club A 3-2.
Dominic Warren was in good form for the hosts winning both of his frames to seal the victory.
Long Melford Working Men’s Club A beat Sible Hedingham 4-1 in the week’s other match.
