Classy Claydon helps Town to extend run

Sudbury Town’s darts team extended their unbeaten run in the Suffolk Super League to seven games with a 6-2 away at basement side Felixstowe ReBeLs.

Martin Totman (21.12 average) got Sudbury off to a good start as he came back from 2-0 down to win against Gordon Morris-Davies.

But Mark Theobald (with a 18.29 average) went down 3-1 to Rob Butters in the next game.

Both teams were struggling with finishing in the early games, never better shown than in Ian Randles’ 3-2 win over Gordon King.

Randles’ 16.86 average (including a 180) was brought down by a succession of missed doubles.

Brett Claydon brought some class to proceedings, putting Sudbury 3-1 ahead, hitting a 180 and a 170 finish in his 3-0 win over Michael Fisk — his 26.84 average comfortably winning the man-of-the-match award.

Steve Balls (20.31 ave) made it 4-1 to Sudbury with a 3-0 win over Mark Stennett, before John Attwater (19.26 ave) clinched the win for Town by beating Shane Lee Amies 3-1.

Jason Stalker (21.17 ave) extended the lead with a 3-0 win against Michael Bird, but ReBeLs pulled one back in the final game as Dan Tatum (21.62 ave) went down 3-2 to David Cook.
