Cheerleaders’ hurrah for Lady Captains’ Day

THE sun shone for Lady Captain’s Day at Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club.

With the theme for the day Countries of the Olympics, ladies captain Carol Mehrer arrived in a decorated buggy to be greeted by teams dressed in colourful costumes representing countries from all corners of the world.

The competition was won by The Cheerleaders team, made up of Margaret Bentley, Sybil Paton, Mandy Byham and Caroline Simpson.

Second were Pamela Randle, Janet Hodge, Catriona Chaplin and Barbara Rowe, and third were Sandra Hodge, Eileen Hands, Bev Thompson and Ann Thomas.

Best Front Nine: Suzanne Shaw-Smith, Maria Gilgar, Mal Went, Jo Head.

Best Back Nine: Susanna Rendall, Nora Hutchinson, Fran Thomas, Fiz Grundy.

Nearest the Pin: 3 Ann Thomas, 7 Susanna Rendall, 11 Suzanne Shaw-Smith, 18 Jo Head.

The prize for the best dressed team went to the Outback Sheilas – Chris Mylam, Anne Major, Stella Buchanan and Penny Allen – who wore their costumes all day.
