One of Suffolk’s most beautiful races will be held in memory of a promising young runner from Acton who died in the summer.

Charlotte Cobbald, who ran with race hosts Stowmarket Striders and took part in last year’s event, was just 17 when she collapsed at Acton Hall, owned by her father Stephen Cobbald.

The club would like to remember Charlotte this year with a donation of the Scenic Seven race profits to the St Aubyn’s Centre, the only NHS adolescent acute and intense care unit for teenagers in the south of England.

This year’s race, sponsored by Barnard’s of Stowmarket, will start at Stowmarket Leisure Centre at 9.30am on Remembrance Sunday, November 9. There will be a two-minute silence before the presentation ceremony.

The course is relatively flat, looping through Harleston and Onehouse, with only a few undulations and one hill.

Postal entry closes on Monday, November 3, online entry of Thursday, November 6.

As well as individual prizes for the first three in various categories, there are men’s and ladies team prizes.
