Brace ready for pro debut while Moul misses cut

Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club’s Scott Brace finished eighth in the Turkish Amateur at Antalya National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya, ahead of his professional debut this week.

Brace — who also tied for sixth in the Essex Amateur Championship held at The Essex Golf Club at the weekend — will compete in his first Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) EuroPro Tour event on Wednesday at Collingtree Park.

Brace’s brother Liam also played in the Turkish Amateur and, having shot the lowest round of the week with a final-round 69, took fifth.

The siblings also teamed up with fellow Englishman Stephen East, of Moortown, Leeds, to finish third in the Nations Cup, with the top three scores from players of their respective nationalities being counted over 72 holes.

n Stoke-by-Nayland’s Jamie Moul failed to make the cut at his latest European PGA Challenge Tour tournament in the Czech Republic.

Last year’s Euoprean Tour player hit rounds of 75 and 69 at the D+D Real Czech Challenge Open on Thursday and Friday, which left him on level par, but well off the cut ,which came at seven under par.

Moul, 28, also missed the cut at his previous tournament, the Fred Olsen Challenge de Espana in La Gomera in the Canary Islands, so will be hoping for a better performance at the tour’s ninth tournament at the Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open in Lumbres, France from today.
