Sudbury Boxing Club coach Neil Anderson has backed promising youngsters Connor Bleazard and Tommy Taylor to clinch Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) Youth Championship glory.

The competition, which commences at the end of the month, will see Bleazard go in search of his first final appearance in the under-69kg division while Taylor, who has returned to the club from Eastgate, will look to finally taste success in the under-91kg category, having reached the final on two separate occasions.

Despite Bleazard facing 2011 champion Lewis Richardson in a daunting first-round bout, Anderson is confident both can claim titles.

“It will be tough, particularly for Connor with his first-round draw, but there is no reason why both can’t reach the finals,” he said. “Both have been training extremely hard, even throughout the Christmas period and they have every possibility of going all the way.

“It is a huge competition for both of the boys with it being a national event and if they can win this then bigger opportunities will open for them, I’m confident.”
