SUDBURY Boxing Club is celebrating a successful revival by announcing dates for two new shows.
The club will be staging one of the UK’s first amateur boxing shows of the new season when it holds an open event at the Eastern’s Café Bar and Nightclub later this month.
A total of nine fighters from the Sudbury club will be in action, which will see a total of 14 bouts featuring boxers from across the region.
In November, the club will stage a black-tie dinner show at Sudbury Sports Centre. The two events follow a successful show held back in August, the club’s first under the guidance of new head coach Neil Anderson. On that occasion Sudbury fighters secured seven victories, despite six of them making their debuts.
Mr Anderson said: “In the past 18 months this club has seen a major transition. The club has taken huge strides forward and we are delighted to be able to announce the two new dates. It is the first time for several years Sudbury Boxing Club has staged two shows in the same season.”
The open show at the Eastern’s Café Bar and Nightclub takes place on Sunday, September 25 between 3pm and 10pm. Tickets are £15 on the door, on a first-come, first-served bases. Tickets can also be purchased in advance. The dinner show is being held on 12 November 2011 and tickets cost £40 per table (up to 16 people).
